If you come across this page you have probably looked up Honduras in Wikipedia or read an article about it or at least heard of the name Honduras.

The unknown country

Perhaps, very few of you know the country Honduras in detail which might be due to the fact that information about Honduras is very rare and most of the time only accessible in Spanish. Only a few years ago Honduras was for us “only a county in Latin America”, which in reality is wrong as well as it is in Central America.

In the midst of it all

After having spent a longer period on the spot we fell in love with the country and all its possibilities and contrasts.

This was the reason for us to move permanently to Honduras. In fact it’s a big difference if you go to the closeby and for tourists well-known countries such as Panama, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic or if you go to Honduras. In the above stated countries tourism is well developed, but you won’t have the possibility to get to know the “real” country. Even the apparently typical dances are only presented for tourist groups and you will stay in from the locals isolated tourist hotels.

Hospitality

In Honduras the complete opposite, every guest is welcomed with open arms and part of the community. The Garifuna (a native tribe of Honduras) dance traditionally at their festivals, because it’s their culture and not because a tourist group just arrived. They put their heart and soul into these dances and you are invited to join in.

Getting to know the country and the people

If you travel through Honduras you might not get to know 30 different hotel employees, but therefore you get 10 new friends for life.

This website should give you access to a variety of information about Honduras. If you would like to try out typical dishes, get to know something about the landscapes and culture or simply enjoy the Honduran way of life, this website will hopefully bring all of it together for you.

At the moment this website exists unfortunately only in German and English as all the pages are written and  translated personally by us and this takes quite some time. Just click on the flag in the top right hand corner to choose your language. You can send us of course questions, suggestions and so on via email in French and you can be sure that onsite we are able to communicate with you in French.
